Club 1000km.si

June 21, 2025 marked the start of the thirteenth edition of the 1000 km brevet and the fifth bikepacking race (both under the name 1000km.si – renamed this year, previously 1000.si) organized by the Bikepacking Slovenia Sports Association (until 2019, ŠD BIK.SI).

The brevet was first organized in 2011 and ran until 2019 under the name Slovenskih 1000+. The traditional date for the brevet is at the end of June each year, as will be the case in 2026, with only a few starts in early July. The brevet did not take place in 2016 and 2019. The highest number of finishers was in 2016, when 16 cyclists reached the finish line.

In the first edition of the bikepacking race in 2021, 8 of the 11 cyclists who started reached the finish line. All finishers were in the men’s competition. In 2022, there were 6 competitors at the start, 5 of whom reached the finish line, including one woman. In 2023, there were 6 finishers out of 9 at the start. In 2024, 6 participants from Slovenia, Italy, and Austria (all men) registered, one did not start, two withdrew, and three reached the finish line. In 2025, out of six participants at the start (including one woman), only two reached the finish line. Marjan Godar (SI) won for the second time in a row, while Peter Pintarič (SI, 2023 and 2025) finished second for the second time, joining Srečko Deželak (SI, 2021 and 2023) and Alessandro Mian (IT, 2023 and 2024), who are also two-time finishers. The others were finishers once.

The 1000km.si Club includes all participants who, in the years when the brevet and/or bikepacking race were organized, reached the finish line and covered a distance of 1000 km. 1000km.si Junior does not fit into this context, as it is only half the distance.

So far, 67 cyclists from eight countries have succeeded: Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, 48 in brevets and 19 in bikepacking races. Among all finishers, there are only four women so far. As already mentioned, some have completed the brevet or bikepacking race several times, but no one has yet completed both challenges! A total of 97 successful finishes have been recorded in both categories.

And who is the person with the most entries in the Klub 1000km.si?

For some, it’s a surprise, for others, it’s not. The 1000 km brevet has been completed most often by a woman, the legendary and by far the most successful Slovenian randonneur Tanja Kavčič. She has finished the race six times!

Many can do it, but few dare!

See you at the club…
